Three weeks, four trips, and 1,000 miles later, I want to share my thoughts on the stock 2020 Harley-Davidson Iron 883.
Pros:
- Drop-dead gorgeous bike
- Easy to ride, easy to handle, easy to balance - Went mountain riding and handled tight turns rather well
- Shifting gears - Each shift has a clear "click" to make it obvious
- Not heavy at all - compared to most other Harley-Davidson bikes
Cons:
- Suspension is terrible - You will feel every bump, and they are not friendly
- Seat is not practical for long rides - Short commutes will be fine
- Not the strongest power so the bike starts struggling past 65-70 mph (reaches roughly 4,000 RPMs)
- Head light is terrible - Best to ride before dark
Additional Thoughts:
- Need some sort of baggage - Looking into a swingarm bag
- Mirror visibility is limited due to my shoulders - Need to lean in more to see OR modify by flipping mirrors upside down
- Although I planned on riding this bike for short commutes, I took four long trips going on freeways so the bike was not ideal for that
If you're looking for a bike and are interested in this model, I hope my 1,000 miles review will shed some light on what you'd be in for, as well as give you a sense of expectations.
